Writing Your Book: From Idea to First Draft
Have you always wanted to write a book but don’t know where to start? Or perhaps you’ve started writing but struggled to maintain momentum? Whether you’re writing fiction, memoir, self-help, business or non-fiction, this interactive workshop gives you practical tools to turn your ideas into a finished manuscript.
Specifically formulated for budding writers with busy lives or busy minds, drawn from my experience working with neurodivergent authors as well as entrepreneurs and busy people, you’ll pick up tips on narrowing down ideas, finding time to write when it feels like there is none, and making the most of the time and skills you already have.

Monthly one-hour online author check-ins. A live video call each month to celebrate progress, share writing wins, discuss challenges, exchange tips and resources, and answer questions about the writing and publishing process.

Who is this workshop for?
Anyone interested in writing a book, including fiction writers, memoir writers, business owners, coaches and consultants, self-help authors, complete beginners, and writers who have started but become stuck. No previous writing experience is necessary.
What types of books will be covered?
The workshop covers fiction, memoir, self-help, business and general non-fiction writing. Many of the principles apply regardless of genre.
Do I need to have a book idea already?
No. If you already have an idea, you’ll develop it further. If you’re still searching for one, the workshop includes exercises to help you discover it.
What should I bring?
A notebook and pen, or a laptop or tablet if you prefer to write digitally. You’ll be completing exercises during the workshop.
Is parking available?
Yes. Free parking is available at Market Harborough Building Society.
Are refreshments included?
Yes. Tea and coffee are included.
How does the WhatsApp group work?
After the workshop, you’ll be invited to join an exclusive WhatsApp group for six months, designed to provide accountability, encouragement and support as you work on your writing project.
What happens in the monthly online meetings?
Each month we’ll meet online for one hour to share progress, discuss challenges, exchange ideas, celebrate milestones and help keep each other motivated.
What if I haven’t written anything by the first check-in?
That’s completely fine. The aim of the group is support, not judgement. The monthly calls and accountability group are there to help you build momentum, wherever you’re starting from.
Will this help me get published?
The workshop covers the publishing process and the steps involved after completing your manuscript. While publication cannot be guaranteed, you’ll understand the options available and what comes next.
