How My Collaboration Publishing Package Works

If you are bringing together multiple authors to write a collaboration book then this is the package for you. Not only will I edit and design beautiful paperback and eBook versions of your book, I will also help you to organise the project, including giving a talk to your group of authors.

Here’s what’s included in the collaboration package:

During the writing stage, I can go live into your authors’ group, or produce a recording to help them with tips on writing their chapters and letting them know how to get the most out of the experience.

Copy edit: This goes further than a proofread and checks your spelling and grammar, along with the overall consistency and flow of your book. This is done in Word using the tracked changes function, so you stay in control.

Typesetting: I’ll design the text and image layout before producing a high-resolution PDF that’s ready to print. This option focuses on text, so please get in touch if your book contains more than ten images.

Full cover design: I’ll produce the design based on your brief. If you need ideas for the cover design, we’ll work together to create them. For paperbacks, the design will include the front, back and spine. I’ll then produce a high-resolution, print-ready PDF for the printed book and a high-resolution front cover for the eBook version.

Proofread: Correcting any spelling mistakes and grammatical or formatting errors.

I’ll create high quality coding to provide an epub eBook file, which is compatible with Amazon and suitable for other retailers.

Then we’ll get everything ready to go on Amazon KDP.
Here’s how it works:

I’ll research categories to give you the best chance of rising through the Amazon best seller rankings.

I’ll set up the data (including coding the description) so that it displays correctly.

Finally, I’ll upload and check the files.

Typesetting your book

The typesetting process begins with a style proof of the initial pages, allowing you to make any necessary stylistic adjustments. Essentially, the objective is to ensure that the audience can read with ease and pleasure. Following this, the entire book undergoes typesetting, transforming your manuscript into a “proper book.”

Proofreading

Following the typesetting, the next step involves proofreading the PDF of your typeset book. This stage serves as a corrective editing service. Importantly, the overall content or the unique voice of the author remains unchanged; instead, the focus is on rectifying mistakes, ranging from minor typos to errors in formatting.

That depends on how much each contributor is writing. Our standard package includes up to 80,000 words, which covers most multi-author projects. Don’t forget to factor in your introductory and closing sections, as well as any forewords or acknowledgements. If your total word count goes beyond this, we’ll provide a custom quote for additional editing and typesetting.

Do I need to be an experienced writer or publisher to lead a collaboration?

Not at all! You don’t need any prior experience. I provide step-by-step guidance, including tips on recruiting contributors, managing submissions and supporting your authors through the writing process. Whether this is your first book or your fifth, Fuzzy Flamingo is here to make it smooth and enjoyable.

Will you meet with all the contributing authors?

Yes. Jen is happy to offer a group workshop or Q&A session, either live or via a private online space (like a Facebook group or Zoom), to support your contributors. This helps everyone feel confident, aligned and excited about the project.

Can contributors write in different styles or formats?

Do you help with editing each contributor’s chapter?

Can I include images, diagrams, or author photos?

Yes. We can include up to ten visual elements in the standard package – this might be diagrams, illustrations, or contributor headshots. If you’d like to include more, we’ll provide a tailored quote.

Will the book be available in print and digital formats?

Yes. Your book will be published in both paperback and eBook formats, typically via Amazon KDP. If you’d like wider distribution (e.g., bookstores, libraries), we can support that too.

Do contributors retain rights to their chapters?

This depends on how you’d like your project to work. Each contributor could retain the rights to their own work, or you could control the rights to the whole book. We’ll help you set up a simple agreement to clarify permissions and ensure everyone is on the same page.
