Since joining the publishing industry in 2010 and founding Fuzzy Flamingo in 2017, I have developed a broad range of experience across traditional, partnership and self-publishing sectors. This diverse background equips me with the expertise necessary to help with the unique challenges non-fiction authors often face.

Full cover design is a key feature of this package. Specifically, for printed books, this includes the front, back and spine. Together, we collaborate to craft a creative design that suits both you and your Book perfectly.
Typesetting your book
The typesetting process begins with a style proof of the initial pages, allowing you to make any necessary stylistic adjustments. Essentially, the objective is to ensure that the audience can read with ease and pleasure. Following this, the entire book undergoes typesetting, transforming your manuscript into a “proper book.”
Proofreading
Following the typesetting, the next step involves proofreading the PDF of your typeset book. This stage serves as a corrective editing service. How long does the publishing process take for Self-Publishing Books?
The timeline can vary depending on the complexity of your book and the services you choose. On average, most non-fiction projects take between 8–16 weeks from manuscript submission to publication. We’ll provide a tailored timeline once we’ve reviewed your manuscript.
Do I retain the rights to my book?
Absolutely. At Fuzzy Flamingo, you always retain 100% of the rights to your work. We’re here to support your publishing journey, not to take ownership of it.
Can you help with cover design and branding?
Yes! Design that reflects your book’s message and your personal brand is included in all Fuzzy Flamingo packages with the cover design and typesetting services. Jen can also help with author branding.
What platforms will my book be available on?
Fuzzy Flamingo authors typically publish through Amazon KDP (Kindle and paperback), thanks to its strong plus points versus other platforms, but we can also support wider distribution through platforms like IngramSpark if you’d like your book available in bookstores and libraries. It’s also possible to have a print run if that’s more suitable to your book. If you’d like to discuss the options available and what might suit you and your book, get in touch.
Do you offer marketing or launch support?
Advice on launching successfully, as well as tips on social media marketing strategies is included in all packages. Assistance with writing a press release can also be provided as an additional service.
Can I publish under a pen name?
Of course! Many authors choose to use a pen name, and we can guide you through how to do this while keeping your identity private if needed. There can be downsides with using a pen name, though, especially when it comes to marketing, so please discuss this with Jen first before making a concrete decision. All conversations with Jen are confidential.
What if I’ve already had my manuscript edited elsewhere?
No problem. We’ll review your manuscript. If your manuscript is already professionally edited, we can move straight to typesetting and design with the Bronze Package (design only) or the Silver Package if you’d like the peace of mind of an additional proofread.
Can I get help with writing my blurb or author bio?
Yes! It can be tricky to write about yourself or summarise your story. I offer support with crafting compelling blurbs, bios and even your Amazon book description.
I’m nervous about publishing – will I get support along the way?
Absolutely. Jen prides herself on being your biggest cheerleader. She knows how scary it can feel and will provide regular updates, and she genuinely cares about your success. You’re never alone in this process. She also strives to make publishing as accessible and inclusive as possible, so if you have additional needs please do get in touch.
